VitalSmarts is seeking a Business Development Specialist (BDS) to propel growth through prospecting, lead generation and appointment setting. The Business Development Specialist is focused on creating new opportunities and partnering with senior sales people to drive incremental business within existing accounts. We are looking for individuals with excellent interpersonal and networking skills as well as the ability to use sales and marketing tools/technologies to increase their speed and effectiveness. This role will require a mix of account and contact research, emailing and cold calling, opportunity qualification, contact nurturing, and relationship building. This includes targeted Fortune 1000 companies, new logos, reactivating dormant accounts, and other business channels as directed. The Outbound BDS will qualify prospects based on basic defined criteria and determine interest level. The main responsibility of this role is to generate sales ready leads for the North-American focused VitalSmarts Sales team. Qualified applicants will have previous experience and a successful track record in B2B lead gen/qualification environments, including excellent written and verbal communication skills, fanatical attention to detail, and have a keenly developed competitive nature. Responsibilities * Identify new revenue opportunities through prospecting activities, including outbound calls, targeting clients with demonstrated business needs, awakening dormant client accounts, and scheduling meetings with qualified client contacts and event follow ups * Collaborate and partner with assigned territory or channel Sales Executives * Using account research, identify & develop valid business drivers to compel customers to utilize our solutions * Parse leads to the appropriate Sales Executive based on territory and size of potential opportunity * Research organizations and individuals online and through social media to identify new leads, key decision makers and potential clients * Quickly demonstrate a broad understanding of VitalSmarts' solutions and articulate the value proposition to schedule appointments * Play a vital role in developing the sales funnel and growing the "sales ready" lead pipeline * Qualify and nurture sales prospects by following and executing a designed out-bound calling process * Correct, build, and maintain prospective client information in company CRM * Schedule conference calls with qualified prospects for Sales Executives * Track the status of prospects throughout the funnel to the point of sales hand-off * Meet or exceed monthly KPI metrics (calls, emails, leads) Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing or related areas of study required. Minimum 3.0 GPA preferred * 2 years of experience in a professional setting preferred, ideally with exposure to inside B2B sales * Ability and willingness to place a high volume of prospecting calls per day * Experienced user of Microsoft Office, exposure to Salesforce.com preferred * Ability to quickly learn, understand, and convey information to others * Superb written, organizational, presentation, and time management skills * Self-driven, disciplined professional who demonstrates resilience when faced with objections * Strong sales acumen * Obsession with client experience; understanding that the slightest bump in getting started can ruin customer happiness * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including phone skills * The ability and desire to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment * Smart time management and excellent work ethic * Track record of meeting and exceeding measurable performance goals * Overall technical aptitude and CRM experience (preferably Salesforce.com) * A keenly developed competitive nature * The drive to be a self-starter. * Fanatical attention to detail.SDL2017
