Under the direction of the Dean and the chair of the Department of Elementary Education, the individual will perform some or all of the following duties: Engage with partner school district teachers and administrators when evaluating student teachers, field work students, and interns Attend the new student teaching/intern orientation Arrange for and complete an initial visit with cooperating teacher and student, a minimum of four formative evaluation and consultation visits, and one summative evaluation and consultation visit. Additional visits may be necessary. Evaluate student learning using appropriate assessment methods and School of Education program evaluation system Develop positive relationships with colleagues and public school educators and administrators Maintain currency and improve professionally in the content and pedagogy of courses taught Instruct, manage, and supervise individuals and groups in classrooms and clinical settings using accepted, appropriate methods Maintain and submit accurate and current records concerning student accountability, attendance, and performance Effectively and accurately participate in the School of Education accreditation process Maintain a student-oriented approach to education Support collegiality Uphold professional and ethical standards and adhere to University policies and procedures Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a masters degree in the subject area to be taught or a closely related area and one year K-12 teaching experience Preferred Qualifications Highly Preferred: Current professional teaching license Successful college/university level teaching experience in a teacher education program Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with a masters degree in the subject area to be taught or a closely related area and three years teaching experience in grades 7-12. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of content and skills required to teach courses in teacher education Excellent communication skills and ability to relate well with students and colleagues Extensive and thorough knowledge of subject matter and course content of classes to be taught, including instructional and assessment strategies and techniques Extensive knowledge of teacher preparation and K-12 learning environments Skill in preparation of all instructional materials in both paper and electronic formats Ability to work well with people and relate effectively with students, colleagues, administration, and K-12 school personnel Ability and willingness to follow written and oral procedures and instructions Pay Range DOQ for salary schedules: www.uvu.edu/hr/compensation
